Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will celebrate Thanksgiving weekend with performances by Béla Fleck and the Marcus Roberts Trio on Friday, Nov. 23, and The Capitol Steps on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 24 and 25.

Tickets are available through www.ScottsdalePerformingArts.org or (480) 499-TKTS (8587).

Béla Fleck and the Marcus Roberts Trio
Often considered the world’s premier banjo player, Béla Fleck has earned 14 Grammy Awards along with a reputation for genre-bending musical collaborations. The Marcus Roberts Trio – led by Marcus Roberts on piano with Jason Marsalis on drums and Rodney Jordan on bass – is a keen torch-holder of the classic-jazz tradition.

Fresh from the release of their acclaimed 2012 album, Across the Imaginary Divide, these four virtuoso musicians share the stage in this exuberant and eclectic performance exploring the profound connections between bluegrass and jazz. At times playful and always swinging, they traverse a musical landscape rooted in jazz but with a cinematic scope, embracing the blues, tango rhythms and folk melodies.

The Capitol Steps
Famous for putting the ‘mock’ in democracy, The Capitol Steps are a longtime Thanksgiving tradition at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Set to popular music, the D.C.-based group’s political satire pokes fun at all sides of the issues, from left to right, with fresh, up-to-the-minute material inspired by the latest election results, headlines, scandals and more.

The Steps were founded in 1981 by congressional staffers and have released more than 30 albums, including their newest, Take the Money and Run for President.
